Cancer of the cheek is usually called leukoplakia or white plate. Doctors call this smoker's patches. Poisons from burning tobacco enter directly into the cells of the lining of the mouth.

A look inside a smoker's mouth will show a yellowish-white leathery looking area in the cheek. These changes, called leukoplakia, are early abnormalities which can lead to cancer.
